Your data

Privacy policy

How HelloPets handles your data: no accounts, no newsletter, and analytics you can turn off from the cookie banner. Read our full privacy policy.

HelloPets is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts and no newsletter. This policy explains what we collect, why, and for how long, and the choices you have under U.S. state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA.

The contact form and emails

If you email us or use a contact form, we use your message and address only to reply and to keep a record of the exchange. We do not add you to any marketing list. We keep these exchanges only for as long as needed to handle your request, then archive or delete them.

Why we process your data, and for how long

  • Replying to your messages: to handle the request you sent us.
  • Analytics: to understand how the site is used and improve our pages. You can turn this off at any time from the cookie banner.
  • Security and running the site: to keep it available and protect it from abuse.

We keep each piece of data only for as long as its purpose requires, then delete or anonymize it.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used with aggregate analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, so that we can improve our pages. We do not use this data to identify you individually, and we do not sell it. Analytics run by default and you can opt out at any time by choosing Decline on the cookie banner; your choice is remembered on your device.

Affiliate links

When you click through to a partner insurer, that insurer and its tracking provider may record that the visit came from HelloPets, so the commission can be attributed. This is covered by the partner privacy policy.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum. You control the non-essential ones from the cookie banner, which you can accept or decline at any time. Strictly necessary cookies, always on:

  • hp-locale-pref: remembers the country and language you pick in the switcher, so we do not redirect you on every visit. Set by HelloSafe, kept 1 year.
  • __cf_bm: bot detection and abuse protection, set by our host Cloudflare, kept 30 minutes.

Analytics cookies, which you can decline, are loaded through Google Tag Manager to measure aggregate usage. Choosing Decline removes them, and your choice is stored on your device under hp-cookie-consent. We set no advertising cookies, run no profiling, and place no social network pixels. You can also block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; blocking the language cookie turns off remembering your country choice.

Your rights

If you are a U.S. resident, state privacy laws such as the CCPA give you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of it. We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that count, but the right stands. We will never treat you differently for exercising these rights.

To make a request, use our contact page. We reply within 45 days, as the CCPA provides. If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can contact your state attorney general.
